Review: Too Faced Chocolate Chip
Perusing the Mecca aisles, I couldn't resist picking this little guy up. It's super duper cute - smaller than an iPhone. The shades are a great compliment to any neutral palette. I love the lighter shimmer shades for inner corner highlights. The best shade in this palette is Exotic (top right).
Top to bottom: Exotica, Cake Batter and Guilt-Free |
It reminds me of Stila's Kitten eyeshadow. A perfect all-over lid colour or the top shimmer on a bronzy eye. Overall, the quality isn't the same as other Too Faced palettes. It's definitely much more powdery and lacking in pigment. If you're looking for a basics palette to travel with, this is not the one (try Urban Decay).
Verdict: great if you want a companion for your neutral eye travel palette. Smells amazing. Not a makeup bag staple.
Review: L'Oreal Pure Clay Mask
Truth be told. I came in with zero expectation. The second I opened the jar and got a waft of the heavy L'Oreal fragrance I instantly discounted its effectively. After trying it out a few times I can say that it’s a definitely a decent charcoal mask. It dries very fast and paralyses my face. Like, seriously, it dries solid. It’s definitely not as satisfying as a peeling mask (it’s just gimmick, I know) but still clears out my pores and leaves the skin pretty smooth. It also brightened my complexion a little.
Verdict: highly recommend if you’re keen to get on the charcoal bandwagon but don’t want to pay a ridiculous amount of money. If you’re sensitive to fragrance or don’t like heavily perfumed skincare in general, this one might not be for you
My Skincare Routine - Antipodes, Dermalogica and Bioderma
Monday, 18 May 2015
Winter is well and truly here (well, nearly)! I've been freezing my butt off in Sydney lately, refusing to dress for the season. It feels like we never got a transitional season. What about my cute duster coats? They don't get to have much fun this year.
With the change in season, I have switched up my skincare and decided to try all the Antipodes products I've been eyeing for yonks! Winter means my skin needs extra TLC and I've started using a serum (um, yes, it took me this long to jump on the serum train). Long story short - it's a life changer.
Review: Maybelline Brow Drama
Friday, 24 April 2015
Every Youtuber/blogger and their mother has tried this product. As a latecomer to the game I succumbed to the full-brow females on Maybelline ads whilst browsing the Priceline 40% off makeup sale a while ago. Funnily enough, I heard a girl in the makeup section say to her friend “remind me to get one of those brow mascara things from Maybelline” – and to this I bolted to the Maybelline section, snatched the very last one and walked past her smiling. She was still working her way up the Sally Hansen polishes. And because I am a sadist, I lingered around until she realised her dreams of lusciously combed brows were shattered. There’s nothing more satisfying than grabbing the last one!
Popping Pills - My Experience With Acne Treatments
Tuesday, 31 March 2015
Instead of boring pictures of pill boxes, I will let images of the gorgeous Barbara Palvin fulfill your viewing pleasure
Growing up, I never had acne. I was always that clear-faced teenager people envied. I was even slightly cruel to those suffering hormonal tidal-waves - calling them names and suggesting they should wash their face better. I used to think acne was caused by a lack of hygiene. How naive and stupid I was! Karma came and bit me in the butt around my late high school years. In the last and final year of school my face erupted like Mount Vesuvius and left me bumpy purple scars all around my chin and cupid's bow. I felt ugly, un-feminine and psychologically crowding more space than I should, because, you know, cystic acne is huge and protrudes from you face like unwanted galactic planets.
Skin Kitchen
Wednesday, 11 March 2015
I am a skincare addict. As soon as the topic of skincare comes up I will talk until it's no longer socially acceptable. When it comes to beauty, there's nothing more important than the canvas you are working with. If your skin is healthy and happy, your makeup will apply and last a gazillion times better. No makeup will ever magically erase abused skin. Below I share with you some of my all time favourites for every skin type (going from left to right in the images above).
Clarisonic Review: Sensitive Skin
Monday, 23 February 2015
I took the plunge last Christmas and finally invested in the Clarisonic Mia 2. After drooling over it for years and hearing everyone in the beauty world rave about it, I finally gave in. Being the stingy tight-arse that I am, I did not take this purchase lightly. It was only after weeks of research and review-reading that I decided it was the one for me (DON'T EVEN ASK how long it took me to decide on a colour!)
Rifle Paper Co.
Sunday, 22 February 2015
Ok, so I'm a stationary junkie, and when it comes to notebooks or phone cases, I cannot resist. My justification is always "hey, I need to journal more, so this will help me with that" or "my phone needs protection, I cannot deprive myself of this basic right!"
You get the gist. The other day I discovered Rifle Paper Co via the beautiful Lauren Conrad and Estee Lalonde. As some of you may know, LC owns Paper Crown and Paper Crown did a collaboration with Rifle Paper Co. Ever since I saw LC's blue floral blouse at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic event, I've been on the hunt for that shirt/pattern.
