Review: Maybelline Brow Drama

Friday, 24 April 2015

Every Youtuber/blogger and their mother has tried this product. As a latecomer to the game I succumbed to the full-brow females on Maybelline ads whilst browsing the Priceline 40% off makeup sale a while ago. Funnily enough, I heard a girl in the makeup section say to her friend “remind me to get one of those brow mascara things from Maybelline” – and to this I bolted to the Maybelline section, snatched the very last one and walked past her smiling. She was still working her way up the Sally Hansen polishes. And because I am a sadist, I lingered around until she realised her dreams of lusciously combed brows were shattered. There’s nothing more satisfying than grabbing the last one!

Enough storytelling – time to get to the point. I matched myself to the Dark Brown colour and it’s perfect for my thin black hairs. This stuff thickens the hair and sets it in place. Some say this is a dupe for Benefit’s Gimme Brow but I don’t agree. Gimme Brow has tiny microfibres that elongate and give a fuller brow look. The Maybelline Brow Drama is just a mascara for your eyebrows. On its own it achieves a defined look, making the hairs slightly thicker and darker. I would recommend using it after eyebrow pencil. I have super duper sparse brows so I rely on a brow pencil to fill in the gaps. This on top of pencil is every thin-haired girl’s dream! It looks super natural! I love the applicator and formula – it’s basically idiot proof. The formula gives a sheer wash of colour while the brush is sparse and small, making it impossible to screw it up.

Overall, this is definitely every day brow status. It’s RRP is $12.95 at Priceline. Wait till a sale and you too can brush your brows every morning for less than 10 bucks! Haha.

P.S. please excuse my dry cuticles
